Starting New Leaders

I was fortunate this fall and winter to find and retrieve several raw material specimens of Cedar Elm, Rose of Sharon, and Cock's-Spur Hawthorn. All have about a 1-1.5 inch trunks and all will have multiple new-growth branches. I've watched a couple of Youtube videos and have read Peter Chan's process, but overall, the experience base seems pretty thin. Can anyone in the club offer tips, pointers, and/or advice as I proceed? I'll try to include pics if possible. Thanks........Dave Manuel

David. Thanks for posting your query in our forum. I am the webmaster and a club member however I don't do bonsai very well; not enough patience. I'm sure that our members can help you out with some pointers. In fact you should attend our meeting this coming Saturday.

Hello All:

After several months of fall/winter dormancy, my new leaders are beginning to show. This one is of a Rose of Sharon. I'll post more in the future. You can get a better view of it if you click on the photo.
